CHARLESTON DAILY COURIER, South Carolina, March 22, 1862
* Rare Confederate title
* Smallest war map to be seen
This was one of just a few newspapers from during the Civil War which printed: "Confederate States of America" in the dateline (see).
Among the front page reports are: "From Richmond--The Minnesota Still Afloat--Naval Movements of the Enemy" "From Norfolk--Active Movements of Troops From Fortress Monroe..." "Daughters of South Carolina!..." "News From The Coast" "Our Coast Correspondence" "War News From The West" and a general order from the military (see).
Page two has a small & crude "illustration" showing: "...where the next great battle in the West is expected..." (see). Pg. 3 is entirely taken up with ads, page 4 has: "Gunboat Response" "Confederate States Bible Convention" "Evacuation of a Confederate Positions" "Letter From a Charleston Youth" at Camp Bartow, and other items.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, scattered foxing & mild wear at the folds with a tiny hole at a fold juncture, old tape at the blank inside spine not close to any text.
