THE UNION DEMOCRAT, Manchester, New Hampshire, December 8, 1863  The front page of the issue contains a report heading "Letter From Concord" in which the news of the death of  Mrs. Jane Appleton Pierce, wife of Ex-President Franklin Pierce. Information on her funeral is included.  Page two "The First Convention" reports the Conservative Union National Convention  met at Cincinnati and McClellan was indicated as a preference for President, but the final decision would be made by a large committee yet to meet. The backpage contains "Later! Retreat of Gen. Meade". Other news and advertisements of the day are within the issue.

This is complete in four pages measuring approximately 23.5 x 18 inches, does contain several small edge tears and a slight irregular left spine, otherwise in good condition.
