A fascinating article appears on an inside page, titled: "The Bowie Knife", written by Jim Bowie's brother and signed in type: R. P. Bowie. He wrote this article to set the record straight on how and why the weapon was created by his brother, as several critical comments were made by another writer which he felt compelled to respond to. Much interesting reading (see photos), one bit noting: "...is as incorrect in his description as in his account of the origin of the 'Bowie knife'. The Baltimore correspondent must have been greatly misinformed respecting the manner in which col. James Bowie first became possessed of this knife, or he must possess a very fertile imagination. The whole of his statement on this point is false. The following are the facts:..." and what follows are his version of the facts (see).

Complete in 16 pages, measures 8 1/4 by 12 inches, very nice, clean condition.
