* William "Pudge" Heffelfinger
* Yale University football
* Team photo

The entire front page has photos of the Princeton and Yale football teams. One of the players on the Yale team is listed as " Heffelfinger", this being the famous William "Pudge" Heffelfinger who was an three-time All-American at Yale and later played amateur football. He is also considered the first professional football player, after getting paid to play in a game against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The doublepage centerfold has nine action photos and four action illustrations: "Characteristic Plays Of The Varsity Foot-Ball Teams, Yale And Princeton." There is a related article on another page: "The Popularity Of Foot-Ball." Another pg. is taken up with: "The Silver-Lead Mining Industries in Idaho and Washington" with scenes of Wallace, Idaho, Bunker Hill, Last Chance, & Sierra Nevada, and Burke, Idaho (see).
Nice condition, never bound nor trimmed, good condition.

wikipedia notes: William "Pudge" Walter Heffelfinger (December 20, 1867, Minneapolis, Minnesota - April 2, 1954, Blessing, Texas) was an American football player and considered the first to play professionally.

Heffelfinger, a three-time All-American, played for Walter Camp at Yale University in 1889, 1890, and 1891. He then played amateur football for the Chicago Athletic Association (for which he was compensated with "double expenses," as was a common practice at the time).
