THE NEW YORK HERALD, Feb. 2, 1861 Page 3 has three nice illustrations of: "The Banner State of the South"--The Troubles of South Carolina to Gert an Ensign" which includes text on the trouble of the state to create a state flag, with illustrations of three designs (see). Pg. 3 also has some nice heads on war preparations at Charleston & Fort Sumter. The ftpg. has: "American Abolitionism" "Its Four Great Epochs" "Various Plans of Emancipation Proposed" "Influence of Religion & Women" and more (see).
